Your EPK will be reviewed with every application you submit by a booking agent or promoter who posted a gig to Sonicbids.com.
Booking agents will be basing their decision to book you off of what you share from your EPK. Having a well thought out electronic press kit (EPK) plays a vital role in landing you gigs and that fit your musical style.
Understand The Promoter’s Perspective
Booking agents can "figure you out" within a matter of 30-90 seconds of reviewing your EPK. The traditional way of receiving applications was through thousands of demos sent to their general email inbox on a daily basis. On Sonicbids, bookers get quick tools to help simplify their workflow and help them discover new talent without anything being pushed under the rug.
The main consideration you'll want to showcase upfront is your music through audio, live performances or music videos, first and foremost. Promoters listen to a TON of music every day and will generally have a good feel for your songs after hearing the first hook. Make it a priority to include your best material at the very top and/or your most up-to-date music on your EPK's media section if you want to be considered as a talent not to be missed.
(Don't know how to rank your songs? Turn to your fan feedback, purchase history or production quality to help you decide.)
If they take a liking to your audio/music tracks, your videos will come next in their radar. An example of a bad video is from either poor audio quality, lighting, a shaky hand or your band member's head in the way of the camera. You get the picture. Be diligent when choosing videos you want to share to your next gig. It is strongly recommended to back up your recordings with a great live performance and/or studio session of you practicing so they can get a sense of how you are on stage.
Booking talented musicians is a difficult task for anyone. Especially today where great music is all around us. That said, promoters can hear quality music. Promoters will also have their own internal rating system to help with fairness, weighing each element of your EPK respectively and letting those scores guide them to make a decision.
